Are you looking to add more content to a page, but the page is getting too long or heavy on content already?
The AJAX Tabs module allows you to
display content in a space efficient manner by displaying them within tabs.
It takes advantage of AJAX to make the experience for the user quick and snappy.
You'll find below an example of the AJAX Tab module in action. You can add Text/HTML to tabs and Other Modules in a tab. Check out the list of Feature Highlights to see the many things you can do with this flexible module.

AJAX Definition
There are many exciting features included in the AJAX Tabs module which provides you incredible flexibility for your site. Listed here are a number of them:
Tab content can be either arbitrary HTML, based on another existing module from your portal or a combination of the two.
Wrapped modules can be displayed with or without their container
Active tab can be specified in the query string
15 predefined tab styles
with the ability to fully customize the look through CSS.
Module permissions are (Optionally) enforced for "module" and “template“ based tabs which allows role based targeted content.
Optionally override module permissions so that they can always be viewed within a tab. This allows having the source module on the same page as the tabs, but only visible to the configured user/role.
Module start and end dates are enforced which allow tabs to be "scheduled".
Import/Export (IPortable) support.
Search integration.
Search results will display the appropriate tab when clicked
.
Multiple Active Tab Persistence modes (Optionally enables the active tab to persist across post backs).
Page Persistence Mode now persists the active tab even when the user has browsed to a different page and comes back.
Full HTML supported in tab headers. This opens up many scenarios such as using custom images for each tab.
Expost JavaScript function which allows programatically switching tabs in a browser from other modules.
Supports routing IMC (Inter Module Communication) messages to wrapped modules which support IMC.
AJAX Support (Partial Rendering) can be optionally enabled for each tab.
Enable/disable hiding of the source wrapped modules.
Shortcut for toggling enabling/disabling of tabs for quick testing.
Maintain the header and footer of wrapped modules.
Fully localizable.
Option of switching tabs automatically when the mouse rolls over the tab header.
Option of rendering the tab headers at the bottom of the tab module (Also added 3 styles for the bottom header placement).
Optional enhanced “Print Preview“ mode which allows the contents of all tabs to be printed/previewed in a single tab.
This tab shows an example of how you can add Text/HTML to a tab in the AJAX Tabs module. It comes complete with a Rich Text Editor so that you can use all of the quick formatting buttons that you are use to with the standard Text/HTML module.
Here are the tab styles that are included in the AJAX Tabs module. In addition to these, we can also create a set of tabs custom to work with you website.
From
Wikipedia
:
Ajax
, or
AJAX
(Asynchronous
JavaScript
and
XML
), is a group of interrelated
web development
techniques used to create interactive
web applications
or
rich Internet applications
. With Ajax,
web applications
can retrieve data from the
server
asynchronously
in the background without interfering with the display and behavior of the existing page. The use of Ajax has led to an increase in interactive animation on web pages.
[1]
[2]
Data is retrieved using the
XMLHttpRequest
object
or through the use of
Remote Scripting
in browsers that do not support it. Despite the name, the use of
JavaScript
and
XML
is not actually required, nor do the requests need to be
asynchronous
.
[3]
The
acronym
AJAX has thus changed to the term Ajax, which does not represent these specific technologies.
