Order Shipments made Easier

Automating content exchange between eCommerce Stores and Shipping Management applications increases efficiency, reduces costs, and makes doing business a lot easier.

There are a lot of ‘parts’ to eCommerce, many of which can be complex and time demanding. Based on feedback I’ve received, order and shipment management is one of the more challenging issues to handle.

It’s challenging because there are several disconnected components that make up the shipping ‘process’. First, you have the eCommerce store where the order is received. Next, you have your shipping provider who needs the order details (ship to address, package size, and weight) to get the order shipped to its destination. And finally, you have the customer who is interested in knowing where their order is and when it will be delivered.

To make the ‘process’ work often requires a great deal of manual effort. Someone needs to retrieve the order details from the eCommerce storefront so that it can be entered into the shipping provider’s application so the shipping label can be printed. Whether they print it or write it down and then type it in to the shipping software or copy and paste it between the store and the shipping management software, it’s a manual and time consuming process. 

After the shipping label is created and printed, tracking information needs to be entered back into the storefront so it is accessible to the customer. Imagine the time all of that manual effort requires – and the potential, even probable errors that occur!
